Disney gave us our first look at the next chapter for Disneyland, Star Wars Land. In what is being called the “Star Wars Experience”, Han Solo himself, Harrison Ford, took to the stage during the “Wonderful World of Disney: Disneyland 60” TV Special to show us just what is in store.

The peek we got was just that, a brief peek. The 2 minute long teaser showed us concept art accompanied by descriptions of what the new Star Wars Experience will be like at Disneyland and Walt Disney World. A few looks inside Walt Disney Imagineering showed Imagineers peering over artwork and models, and animation mockups gave us an idea of what the attractions will be like.

There will be at least two attractions, one which will put guests in control of the Millennium Falcon “actually piloting the fastest ship in the galaxy … and firing the laser cannons.” The attraction promises that the guest will be in “complete control”. Another attraction, which we believe will involve a trackless ride system, puts guests “in the middle of a battle between the Resistance and the First Order”.

The Star Wars Land environment will also be one of complete immersion. Visitors will “enter authentic locals with every sense engaged, meeting droids and aliens and a street market. Actually tasting the local delicacies. And going upscale at the planet’s best dinner club, or for the truly adventurous, heading down to the local cantina.” This makes note of a high-end restaurant, most likely with some form of entertainment.

Disneyland has already broken ground on the 14-acre Star Wars land Experience. No official opening date has been announced. The TV special Star Wars Experience announcement can be viewed above this article.
