Back in October we told you about strong indicators pointing towards a permanent closure of the original Cars Land attraction, Luigi’s Flying Tires. This morning Disney made it official with the announcement.

Luigi’s Flying Tires will take guests on their final rides on February 16, 2015. Disney hasn’t released any specific information about the underperforming attraction’s replacement, only stating that the new attraction will reopen in “early 2016” and will feature all new ride system and new ride vehicles.

The concept art makes the replacement attraction look similar to other platform spinner rides such as Francis’ Ladybug Boogie in “a bug’s land”. Hopefully it will utilize a rumored trackless ride system and interactive guests controls. We’ll keep you updated with new information as it becomes available.
