Yep, you read that headline correctly!

In a move that is clearly aimed at reducing crowd sizes during the busy holiday season, Disneyland has raised prices and restructured the Annual Passport pricing plan. New purchases of the Premium Passport have been suspended, and the pass has been eliminated. Since the inception of the annual passport, the Premium Pass has provided guests with 365 day access to the parks and parking. As of October 4, 2015 Disneyland has introduced two new versions to replace the Premium Passport: The Signature and the Signature Plus. The Signature Plus is basically the old premium which has no blockout dates, but comes with a significant price increase. While the Signature will allow access to all days with the exception of December 19th through January 2nd, but also received a significant price hike when compared to the pre-increase Premium.

Monthly payment plans for all Annual Passport levels requires you to be a California resident between zip codes 90000 and 96199.

Current Disneyland Resort Premium Annual Passholders can continue to use their passport until it expires, but they will not have the opportunity to renew. When they expire they must select a new tier.

This Annual Passport hike marks the second admission price increase this year. The raise prior to this one came a mere 8 months ago, and the one before that, 9 months prior. This means Disneyland has seen an Annual Passport ticket price increase twice in less than a year-and-a-half time.

The more amazing factor to consider, nothing has been added to the parks since the last increase in February 2015. In fact, 2016 is going to see major year-long closings of attractions across the west side of Disneyland that includes all of the Rivers of America Attractions and the Disneyland Railroad. The closures are leading up to the beginning construction phases of Star Wars Land.

  • $28, increased by $1 for Busses and Limousines

Downtown Disney parking has also seen a huge jump in fees:

  • 2 additional hours free with validation from “AMC Theater or select table service dining restaurants”.
  • $12 per hour after the first 2 hours (or 4 hours with validation), charged at 30-minute increments to a max of $36 per day. An increase of $6 per hour.

What are your thoughts?

With two increases in 2015, the impending closures of 2016, and the changes in the Annual Passports, do you believe this increase is justified? Will you still visit the Disneyland Resort in 2016 or renew your Annual Passport?

Let’s discuss it below in the comments?
