Disney is set to hold a midnight release party for new Star Wars and Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise. The Force Friday event will be held on Septemeber 3, 2015 at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World resorts. When Force Friday was initially announced the event was a ticketed at $50 per person, however Disney has now made the event open to all ages and it “will no longer be a ticketed event”.

Guests attending the release party, at the World of Disney in Downtown Disney Anaheim or Once Upon A Toy at Downtown Disney Marketplace in Florida, will have the opportunity to be the first to purchase new Star Wars and Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise. Disney stores in New York, Chicago, and San Fransico will also open their doors at midnight this Friday. All Disney Stores locations will open on Friday with Star Wars ceremonies.

The latest announcement doesn’t say how the guests who have already purchased tickets will be handled, although some guests have already reported receiving refunds. The event was opened to all “due to popular demand”, however these changes also come after the Disney Parks Blog was flooded with complaints about the high cost of the event and the lack of information on the merchandise. It also appears that the event has since been expanded to select Disney Store locations, making the entrance fee to the park’s locations a bit ridiculous.

For those of you who can not make it to one of the events, or are not interested in midnight madness crowds, a live stream, unboxing event will also be held on the Star Wars YouTube channel. The first stream will be from Sydney, Australia at 5:45 p.m. EDT on Weds, September 2nd. the event will conclude with a finale at Lucasfilm at 11 a.m. EDT on Thurs, Septemeber 3rd.
