Disney recently released a new, more detailed look at what we can expect from Star Wars Land when it opens at Disneyland in the next few years.
The 14-acre Disneyland expansion, which was first announced at the 2015 D23 Expo in Anaheim, broke ground earlier this year. Located to the rear of Disneyland park, Star Wars Land will be a highly immersive environment that will transport guests into the worlds of the Star Wars universe.
We have already had a few glimpses at some of Walt Disney Imagineering’s renderings for the new land, but this most recent preview is the first to give us an over all aerial look at it. We got our hands on a high resolution copy of the new artwork and broke it down to give an even more detailed look.
We’ve zoomed in on the high resolution version of the above aerial Star Wars Land concept art and found a few interesting details. Most of these we’ve known about, but now we know the exact layout plan for the area and how it will all go together!
1 First detailed area is towards the back of the Star Wars Land area at Disneyland. It shows what appears to be a life sized Millennium Falcon at the entrance to an attraction. We already know that one of the two planed attractions for Star Wars Land will be based on the Millennium Falcon and this is most certainly it.
2The second area is located along the Rivers of America. It’s clear by this view that Star Wars Land will be right up against the Rivers of America, however guests inside the land will not be able to see out into the Rivers. Disney appears to be keeping the Star Wars environment isolated from Frontierland, and rightfully so. If you look towards the bottom of this photo the new Disneyland Railroad trestle bridge and waterfalls are visible. Disneyland has already made this announcement, and you can view high quality concept art for that area here.
3The third look in on the east side of Star Wars Land showcases the space port themed area which will most likely contain shopping, dining, and character meet and greet areas.
4The Fourth detailed look in is on the far west side of Star Wars Land where another very large ship can be found. This could be the second attraction for new land which will use simulator technology to put guests in the middle of a Rebel battle.
Disneyland has not yet released an opening date for Star Wars Land.
