Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, one of Walt Disney’s earliest animated creations, debuted this past week in a meet and greet on Buena Vista Street. Oswald is a natural fit for the 1920’s Los Angeles inspired Buena Vista Street. The area sets the tone for when Walt arrived in Los Angeles, not to long after loosing the rights to Oswald and thereby creating Mickey Mouse. It wasn’t until 2006 that the Walt Disney Company would again acquire the rights to Walt’s early creation.
Oswald’s name already appears on the nearby filling station and in various other places throughout Buena Vista Street. He is a natural fit and I am glad to see how well received he has been so far this week!
Oswald will be appearing next to the Chamber of Commerce, across the way from Oswald’s Filling Station each day from park opening until 7:00 p.m.
