A fourth runDisney half-marathon weekend has been added to the Disneyland Resort, this one themed to Star Wars. The race weekend will take place on January 15 – 18, 2015. The slot was previously held by the Tinker Bell Half Marathon Weekend which has been moved to May 7th through the 10th for 2015.
The Star Wars half-marathon weekend joins the longer running Disneyland Half Marathon in August, the Tinker Bell Half Marathon in May, and the newly announced Avengers Super Heroes Half-Marathon Weekend debuting in November of this year.
The Star Wars half-marathon weekend will include the typical set of races including a 5k, 10k, kid races for the “young Padawans” and a half-marathon on Sunday Morning. A Health and Fitness Expo will also be held at the Disneyland Hotel throughout the weekend. Star Wars characters will be on hand throughout the race to cheer runners on and pose for photos. Participants will also have the opportunity to obtain a “Star Wars Rebel Challenge Finisher Medal”, in addition to the individual race medals, by completing the 10k on Saturday followed by the half-marathon on Sunday.
The race weekend will also include a “Wookiee Welcome Party” in Tomorrowland on Thursday, January 15, 2015. The welcome party will include Star Wars characters, dessert and select Tomorrowland attractions.
