Disneyland Photo Report for April 22, 2014
Welcome back to the Disneyland Resort
The Disneyland Resort remains a very popular place with Spring Break still in effect for some schools. The weather couldn’t be better either with highs into the mid 80’s! This all translates into crowds. Monday, the day these photos were taken, was busy enough for management to extend California Adventure’s hours.
There’s not a whole lot of news this week, except for some crazy good merchandise that popped up around Disneyland and is quickly selling out. An extended sneak peek of Disney’s upcoming theatrical release of Maleficent is now playing at Disney California Adventure and another attraction and a restaurant have closed for a refurbishment.
Adventureland & ‘land’ Merchandise
Some great merchandise appeared at the Adventureland Bazaar, as well as a few other shops, across Disneyland this past week. I have to thank Guy Selga of Touring Plans for the heads up with this one. Most of the merchandise at the Bazaar is labeled “Adventureland”, even though some of it displays the commonly referred to as “Tiki Shrug” logo from the Polynesian Resort at Walt Disney World. Regardless, the plates, cups, shakers and napkins are well designed when compared to the typical over-the-top cartoonish date merchandise that we see a lot these days.
Below are the Polynesian logo adorned plates and cloth napkins. The plates are ceramic and are well made.
A ceramic ‘tiki’ cup
Also appearing this week are a set of four shakers which resemble park trash cans. They are also ceramic and have a more classic design. With the exception of the Fantasyland shaker, each one can be found in stores within their respective ‘lands’. Adventureland at the Bazaar, Frontierland at the Pioneer Mercantile and Tomorrowland at the Startrader. Each of the four shakers were also available on Main Street U.S.A. at the China Closet.
A set of retro ‘land’ plates, bowls and serving cups also appeared this week. The designs showcase nice retro symbols for each land, although the merchandise here is made of plastic and not the high quality ceramic seen with the Adventureland plates.

If you are interested in purchasing some of this great park merchandise then I suggest you move quickly. Some of it seems to already be selling out.
Guy Selga also did a great video blog on some of this merchandise he picked up earlier this week. It can be viewed below.
I believe these shirts are new as well.
Also this week, as part of the 50th Anniversary of the New York World’s Fair, Disney made two tee-shirts available online. One for “it’s a small world” and another for the “Carousel of Progress”. Both were original World’s Fair attractions which were designed by Walt Disney Imagineering.
They come in Adult and Youth sizes and are only available through April 27th!
Around the Resort
Indiana Jones Adventure remains closed for refurbishment through May 8th.
Tarzan’s Treehouse closed a few days this week and will reopen on Wednesday, April 23.
Sorry fried chicken fans, the Plaza Inn will be closed through May 15th.
Welcome to Disney California Adventure
Disney California Adventure is now hosting a exclusive sneak peek of Disney’s upcoming theatrical release of Maleficent. The preview is being held at the “Tough to be a Bug” theater in Bug’s Land.
The Pacific Wharf is looking very nice these days as the re-theme of Disney California Adventure continues in small sections. We did a before and after comparison of this section in last week’s Disneyland Photo Report. What a difference!
Grizzly River Run closed this week, just as the weather began to heat up! It will remain closed through June 19th!
