After 21 years, Billy Hill and the Hillbilles have performed their last show at Disneyland, but fans of the comedy and bluegrass musical act need not worry. They have moved just a few miles west to Knott’s Berry Farm!
Now known as “Kirk Wall and the Hillbillies” the very talented group made the announcement on their website earlier today! They have also listed their performance schedule for Knott’s through April!
Update: Knott’s Berry Farm has made an official announcement:
Knott’s Berry Farm is delighted to announce that Kirk Wall and the Hillbillies (formerly known as Billy Hill and the Hillbillies) have signed on to perform at the theme park weekends (Saturday and Sunday) beginning January 18, 2014. This world famous bluegrass country music group will perform sets of their toe tappin’, hand clappin’ and gut bustin’ musical comedy show on the Wilderness Dance Hall stage located in Ghost Town.
Saturday 1/18 – 1:00, 2:30, 3:30, & 4:30 p.m.
Sunday 1/19 – 5:30, 6:30, 8:00, & 9:00 p.m.
Disneyland announced their decision to “retire” Billy Hill and the Hillbillies back in November. The Hillbillies also recently performed at Knott’s Berry Farm during the New Year’s Eve celebration there.
The exact reason for Disneyland cutting the well loved show from their schedule is still not known. However it is rumored that a Saloon show, similar to the Golden Horseshoe Revue is in the works. A one-week tribute to the Golden Horseshoe Revue during last year’s Limited Time Magic promotion was a huge hit and Disneyland may be looking to expand on that success.
Either way, it looks like Southern California theme park fans get to keep their Hillbillies!
