Disneyland Photo Report for September 9, 2013
Welcome Back to the Disneyland Resort
Thousands of Dapper laddies and gents attended the 2013 Dapper Day Fall Soirée at the Disneyland Resort, and we have some great photos of the event. The temperatures remained in the high 90’s this past weekend as guests cooled down on attractions like Grizzly River Run. Jack Skellington is nearly moved into the Haunted Mansion Holiday and some Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise has begun to appear. We visit the Captain EO Tribute in Tomorrowland, and the Health Exhibit in Innoventions before their possible closures. And we take a look around the resort.
The unofficial Dapper Day was held this past weekend at the Disneyland Resort. Guests dressed in their best could be seen on Buena Vista Street and Main Street U.S.A. We even caught a surprise proposal on the Mark Twain!
Haunted Mansion Holiday
The Haunted Mansion remains closed through September 13, 2013 for the installation of the Haunted Mansion Holiday. This past weekend, the front of the Haunted Mansion appeared nearly complete as the finishing touches were being installed inside. We should see more information this week, including details on the gingerbread house!
Nightmare Before Christmas merchandise has appeared on the cart near the Haunted Mansion exit.
Captain EO Tribute
For a few weeks now it has been rumored that the Captain EO Tribute in Tomorrowland was scheduled for a closure, and that the revisit of the classic 1980’s attraction would not return. However this past week, MousePlanet recanted their report now stating that the closure, and / or refurbishment has been postponed indefinitely.
Regardless of what the near future holds for this 4D attraction, I took the time to visit this past week and document the tribute to Michael Jackson.
Over at Innoventions, the St. Joseph Hospital Health Exhibit will be disappearing soon to make way for the another Marvel character. The Thor Experience is expected to move into the second floor of Innoventions this fall. The new meet and greet will take up the space next to Iron Man Tech and Disney Infinity.
The exhibit has been a part of Innoventions for years, and although I personally love science, I feel this particular exhibit was poorly executed and does little but provide entertainment for guests trying to escape the heat in the air conditioned building. Marvel has proven to be popular with guests in Innovnetions and the addition of the Thor meet and greet should be no different.
Around the Resort
King Arthur Carrousel is closed and covered for a refurbishment through October 10th.
The walkway between Frontierland and the Fantasy Faire is closed for a repaving project; the Royal Theatre remains open.
Progress continues on the Downtown Disney Starbucks location. Did you see our special report, which included interior photos of the Disneyland Main Street Starbucks?
