Last week we found a interesting casting call on the Disney Auditions web site which showed that Disneyland was developing a new stage show for the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree. The casting call was seeking “guitar-playing, singing cowboys (tenor/baritone) with comedic acting skills for stage performances and one on one guest interactions for a new show at Disneyland”.
Today, Disney announced a new summer show for the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree called ‘Woody’s All-American Roundup’. Described as a “flag-wavin’ patriotic celebration of the Old West”, Woody’s All-American Roundup will feature Sheriff Woody and Jessie from the Toy Story movies, as well as Mickey and Minnie Mouse dressed in their western outfits.
This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Mickey and Minni Mouse in their western outfits at the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree, and Woody and Jessie are quite often found in this quiet corner of Frontierland as well. But aside from the usual meet-and-greets, Woody’s All-American Roundup will offer rodeo games, crafts, foods, and a talent show featuring Woody’s skill with the lasso and Jessie’s slingshot tricks.
Billy Hill and the Hillbillies will remain at the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree, performing “Red, White and Bluegrass!” between each talent roundup show.
Woody’s All-American Roundup starts June 14, 2013.
To be honest, I don’t go back to the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree too often, so I’m not sure just how long these ‘games’ have been set up. But they could be the “rodeo games” Disney is referring to.
