Disneyland Resort Photo Report for February 25, 2013.
Welcome Back to the Disneyland Resort
This week we’ll take a quick look around the Disneyland Resort, and a detailed look at the Fantasy Faire project. Rumors are circulating that the princess meet-and-greet location could soft open in the coming weeks ahead of its scheduled March 12th opening.
Also this week, hundreds of well dressed guests attended the parks for ‘Dapper Day’ and the Main Street quartet, the Dapper Dans, are signing a new tune.
But first a word from Touring Plans on this week’s Disneyland crowd predictions:
The parks are entering the last couple of weeks before the busy Spring Break Season. TouringPlans.com can help you navigate the parks with our per-park Crowd Calendar, Lines – Mobile Wait Times App that gives access to current and estimated wait times for attractions, and Touring Plans detailing the best plan of attack for hitting the attractions. Now more than ever, it’s a good time to subscribe to TouringPlans.com to plan your strategy to avoid the crowds!
Below are the predicted resort-wide crowd numbers for select days generated by the TouringPlans professional statisticians as measured for the upcoming week. For the access to the full year and per-park crowd level predictions, visit our Crowd Calendar.

Here are some quick-hit notes that we hope you’ll find helpful as you prepare your visits for the week:
- Saturday is a 7 out of 10.
- There are no Annual Pass blackouts in effect this Monday through Friday.
- Wednesday is the best day to visit Disneyland
- Fastpass tickets for Radiator Springs Racers usually “sell out” within the first hour of DCA’s regular park hours.
See Disneyland crowds for the next 365 days.
Do more. Wait less.
I woke up early this past Sunday to take advantage of Annual Passholder early entry. The experience was well worth it considering I was able to get some coveted sunrise photos across Disneyland park!
I plan to write a review on the experience later this week, but for those of you who want to take advantage of this Annual Passholder perk this upcoming weekend here are the basic details.
Each day provides Annual Passholders access to either park one-hour before the scheduled opening. Saturdays at Disney California Adventure and Sundays at Disneyland from now through April 14, 2013.
The sun begins to rise over Mickey and Friends parking structure
The largest benefit of having early entry is obvious. Although this side of the park wasn’t open for the extra hour, being in the park when the west side opened provided walk-on conditions!
The Mark Twain Riverboat remains under refurbishment.
Hundreds of well dressed ladies and gents showed up in their best on Sunday to celebrate Dapper Day. The event, although not officially sanctioned by Disney, has grown in size each year and is a fitting throwback to how guests dressed while visiting Disneyland some 50 years ago.
The new Fantasyland expansion and princess meet-and-greet, Fantasy Faire, is nearly complete. The scheduled opening date, March 12th is quickly approaching and rumors are circulating that a soft open is possible in the coming weeks.
‘Fantasy Faire’ banners have been installed and beautiful details are now visible along the buildings and facades to the rear of the very loud, purple and pink Royal Theatre coverings.
The colors, which are extremely visible from Disneyland’s Main Street center plaza and Partners Statue, are distracting. However they are also very eye catching, which is most likely the reason why they were chosen.
On Sunday morning, TDA executives along with Fantasyland Cast Members and ‘plaid’ hostesses were seen touring the area.
Clopin’s Music Box has been installed.
Dapper Dans – The ‘Original Boy Band’
A new Limited Time Magic event began this week. The Dapper Dans – the “Original Boy Band” started performances on Monday morning.
The Dapper Dans – a traditional turn of the century barbershop quartet – can be found signing ‘boy band’ songs on Main Street U.S.A. After performing their traditional Disney attraction melody, the Dapper Dans tell the story of how they recently came across a young guest with “strange wires” coming out of her ears. The Dapper Dans go on to explain how they were influenced by these ‘boy bands’ and that they decided to come up with their own rendition of the tunes they heard through her ‘ear buds’. After all, the Dapper Dans are the original boy band.
During the performance, the Dapper Dans sing One Direction’s “What Makes You Beautiful”, *NSYNC’s ”Bye, Bye, Bye” and the Backstreet Boy’s “Everybody“.
Also announced for this week’s Limited Time Magic events was a third Annual Passholder movie screening, however this screening comes with a special twist – two extra hours in Fantasyland after park closing!
To celebrate the first-time release of Peter Pan on Disney Blu-ray and Limited Time Magic at the Disneyland Resort, Annual Passholders have the opportunity to attend a screening of Peter Pan at the Main Street Opera House and have access to select Fantasyland attractions for an additional two hours after Disneyland park closing
Unlike the recent Lady and the Tramp and Mulan screenings, this Limited Time MagicPeter Pan screening and extra hours event will only take place on one day, February 27, 2013. There will be five screenings of Peter Pan throughout the day
Around the Resort
Not much progress can be seen over the construction walls of the Fantasyland Theater. The venue is being transformed to receive a new stageshow, Mickey and the Magical Map this summer.
Grizzly River Run is scheduled to re-open this week on Thursday, February 28, 2013.
The Buena Vista Street bridge has received a third paint scheme. This time the bridge has received a toned down off-white treatment with bright white accents. This new scheme is much closer to what the original look the bridge had when Buena Vista Street opened in June 2012.
It appears that the remans of the Refreshment Corner archways are being removed. The structures were removed the week of September 2, 2012, but the ground work has only been covered up by temporary panters since then.
“it’s a small world” is also scheduled to re-open on Thursday, February 28, 2013.
That’s going to do it for this week’s update. You can see the past updates here.
See You At Disneyland!
