Disneyland Resort Photo Report for February 11, 2013
Welcome Back to the Disneyland Resort
The Disneyland Resort kicked off the latest event for Limited Time Magic this past week. The Happy Lunar New Year Celebration, a traditional Chinese, Korean and Vietnamese celebration, is currently being celebrated at Disney California Adventure park. Special foods, crafts, entertainment and characters are available near the San Francisco inspired street and the Pacific Wharf inside California Adventure.
Disneyland park hasn’t seen very much change since last week’s update, so I invite you to view the state of the current refurbishments in the February 4th Disneyland Update.
But first a word from Touring Plans on this week’s Disneyland crowd predictions:

- Wednesday is the best day to visit Disneyland
- Fastpass tickets for Radiator Springs Racers usually “sell out” within the first hour of DCA’s regular park hours.
California Adventure turns 12
Disney California Adventure park quietly turned 12 this past week. The original dedication date of February 8, 2001 hasn’t been celebrated much in the past few years – typically just passing by without much fan fare or acknowledgment from Disney management. This past Friday came and went without much attention to the significance of the date. Disney did however take to social media to acknowledge the anniversary. The in park twitter account, DCAToday, gave away twelve cupcakes (one for each year since the park opened) to the first twelve guests who found them in the Animation Building, but not much else took place.
It just begs the question, will California Adventure’s anniversary quietly shift to the re-dedication date of June 15?
Happy Lunar New Year
The next event for Limited Time Magic at the Disneyland Resort kicked off this past week and continues through February 13, 2013.
The Lunar New Year Celebration contains special foods, characters and entertainment.
Phans55, a Vietnamese bistro, has set up food booths in Downtown Disney.
Around the Resort
The Silly Symphony Swings have been completely removed during a refurbishment. The wave swing attraction is currently scheduled to reopen February 14, 2013.
It looks like the Disneyland Resort is about to follow in the foot steps of Walt Disney World and begin to enforce FASTPASS return times. Signs started to appear this past week in the various FASTPASS distribution areas asking guests to return within their one hour window. Similar signs were installed at Walt Disney World just prior to their enforcement change. According to Cast Members, FASTPASS return times will be enforced started February 18, 2013.
Disney management is once again making changes on Buena Vista Street. A few weeks ago management decided to paint the Glendale-Hyperion Bridge a two-toned color. This past week the post seen below was repainted from the darker color back to the lighter color. As of Friday only this one section of this single post was painted in this way. This leaves the question, has management decided to repaint the bridge back to the original color, or are they again experimenting with Buena Vista Street.
The AMC Theater in Downtown Disney is celebrating Valentines Day with special screenings of Somewhere in Time (Feb 10 – 14)and Gone with the Wind (Feb 15 – 17).
That’s going to do it for this week’s update. You can see the past updates here.
See You At Disneyland!
