The 2012 Disneyland candy cane schedule is beginning to leak out, and for the first time, the candies will be crafted on Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure. Every Holiday season the highly skilled Disneyland candy makers create the large, hand-made candy canes at the Candy Palace on Disneyland’s Main Street U.S.A. This annual tradition typical produces a large crowd, peering in on the kitchen windows, as guests attempt to watch this art form in action. The process of making candy canes in the traditional, hand-made way, is a time consuming process – one which is now rarely seen.
The Candy Palace kitchen underwent an expansion this past spring which expanded the size of the kitchen as well as the available viewing space. This expansion should make it easier for guests to watch these confectionery masters in action.
MousePlanet is reporting that the 2012 Disneyland candy canes will be made on Mondays and Fridays at Disneyland park and on Tuesdays and Saturdays at Disney California Adventure park, beginning November 23rd. Because of the extremely high demand, wristbands will be issued at park opening to those who will have the opportunity to purchase a candy cane. The Disney Food Blog has confirmed that Disney will be issuing three batches of 40 wrist bands per day for a total of 120.
This year the cost is up 5 cents to $12.99.
