Here are some quick-hit notes that we hope you’ll find helpful as you prepare your visits for the week:

  • Southern California Annual Passports are now blocked out through August 19.
  • Full blockouts on Saturday.
  • Waits at the FASTPASS machines for Radiator Springs Racers (located near It’s Tough to Be a Bug) have been as long as 45 minutes at official park opening.
  • Due to its incredibly low capacity, consider riding Luigi’s Flying Tires standby right after starting your day by grabbing a FASTPASS for Radiator Springs Racers.

Billy Hill and the Hillbillies

A few weeks ago the popular Billy Hill and the Hillbillies show was moved from the Golden Horseshoe to the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree.  The Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree started back in May and features music, crafts, pin trading and dancing. Disney has also been using this area to feature the Performing Arts bands while the Princess Fantasy Faire is under construction.

The Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree has been seeing dismal guest attendance numbers, which appear to be much worse by the large open space of the venue.  What seems like a move to bring more guests back to the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree, the Billy Hill and the Hillbillies show has been moved to the Jamboree.  This new stage is huge in comparison to the Golden Horseshoe stage, but the performers do a great job at getting the audience involved and making the venue feel more intimate by coming down off the stage.

What does seem a bit sad, after the Billy Hill and the Hillbillies show ends, almost all of the guests get up and leave as the “Hoedown” show starts, leaving only a handfull of guests in the arena to participate in the Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree activities.

Princess Fantasy Faire

Construction is moving forward on the new home for the Princess Fantasy Faire.  Also this week, MousePlanet is reporting that the current Princess Fantasy Faire, in the Fantasyland Theater, may close on August 12th and move to the nearby “it’s a small world” mall, until the construction on their new home is complete.  This will free up the Fantasyland Theater for the return of stage shows to Fantasyland… Holiday’s anyone?

The facades, which help make the transition to Frontierland, are receiving paint.

It’s the little things that make the new areas of Disney California Adventure a great Disney park.

Joining Disneyland in a long standing tradition, the park now has a formal flag retreat ceremony each day.

Radiator Springs Racers, along with a quite a few other attractions at Disney California Adventure were hindered for a few hours by a large power outage this past week.  Radiator Springs Racers was also closed Thursday and Friday, presumably due to the rare summer rain storm we received this past week.

But this past weekend the attraction was open, and yesterday (Monday, July 16th) the attraction had a standby line of only 70 minutes and a single rider line of only 25 minutes!  This is a relatively short wait time for an attraction which has been averaging tripple digit wait times since it opened on June 15, 2012.  Touring Plans is reporting that the Fastpasses are consistently being completely distributed by 10 a.m. with wait times of about 45 minutes to obtain a Fastpass at park opening.

You can see more tips and projected crowd sizes for this week in the Touring Plans ad at the top of this report.
