In last week’s post, Downtown Disney Changes, I mentioned the rumor that had been circulating putting Disney in talks to bring Earl of Sandwich to California.
Disney has announced that the popular sandwich shop will indeed come to Downtown Disney, filling the space that is currently occupied by Compass Books & Cafe.
Earl of Sandwich is already a popular place for guests at both Disney World and Disneyland Paris. Serving hot sandwiches, including fresh roasted beef, soups, salads, wraps, deserts and even breakfast; the addition of the eatery is anticipated by those who are familiar with their food. You can download the Earl of Sandwich menu here.
“We pride ourselves in giving our guests a unique experience at Downtown Disney through different retail and food offerings,” said Tony Bruno, vice president of resort hotels and Downtown Disney, in a statement. “This will be the only Earl of Sandwich in California and it is sure to be a favorite among our guests as it has been at Walt Disney World for nearly eight years.” (source)
Earl of Sandwich will be opening in early summer 2012. Although initially announced with a “summer of 2012” projected opening, the Earl of Sandwich location remains under construction as of October 2012 without a projected opening time frame.
