Starting on Monday, January 9th, something will be a bit different on Disneyland’s Main Street USA…and I don’t mean the reduced crowd sizes. Although I am looking forward to smaller crowds, for the first time in 20 years, Main Street will have a new music loop!
The news of a new Main Street music loop leaked out a few weeks ago on Maxwell DeMille’s Facebook Page, but as of yesterday the change became official. The mostly ragtime music was las changed in 1992 when a few selections recorded for Disneyland Paris were added to Disneyland here in Anaheim.
This time around, over a dozen new tunes, arranged and recorded specifically for Main Street, U.S.A., will join many of the existing songs. Included in the new mix are such iconic period pieces as “Meet Me in St. Louis, Louis,” “In the Good Old Summer Time,” “Alexander’s Ragtime Band,” “Oh You Beautiful Doll,” Scott Joplin’s “Maple Leaf Rag,” and a recent tune given a turn-of-the-last-century arrangement, Michael Giacchino’s “Married Life” from Disney•Pixar’s “UP.”
Disney said in a blog post.
You can hear a few samples of the music over at the Disney Parks Blog. What’s interesting is that “Oh You Beautiful Doll” is currently on the music loop at the Paradise Garden area of Disney California Adventure park.
So what do you think of these changes? Being that it’s been 20 years since the last change, it will be a substantial one for some of us…
