Disneyland – Upcoming Main Street Construction
Back in August we told you about the plans to transform the Plaza Pavilion into the Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe, a Mary Poppins inspired bakery. With that announcement also came the news that the Blue Ribbon Bakery would close and the Carnation Cafe would re-claim the interior seating it once had. The Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor and Refreshment Corner will also be receiving some enhancements as well.
Back in August we learned that the north- west side of Main Street was slated to receive a major makeover and the Plaza Pavilion, a former restaurant and annual pass processing center, would be transformed into the Jolly Holiday Bakery Café, The new Mary Poppins themed Café will replace the Blue Ribbon Bakery. The space left vacant by the Blue Ribbon Bakery would then be used, once again, as indoor seating for the Carnation Café. Read the original announcement
Disney released new menu details for the Jolly Holiday Bakery Café:
In addition to the bakery and espresso offerings, the new menu has some delicious new tastes, such as an Angus roast beef salad with blue cheese; a Caprese sandwich with tomatoes, Buffalo mozzarella, basil, butter lettuce and garlic aioli on toasted focaccia bread; and a classic pastrami reuben on rye.
After the Holiday’s the Blue Ribbon Bakery will be off to yesterland.
The Gibson Girl Ice Cream Parlor will be “getting a little makeover” and in addition, root beer, Coca-Cola and orange cream floats added to the menu.
Disney’s most recent announcement said, “..and the block makeover wraps up at Refreshment Corner”. Let’s hope the Coca-Cola remains!
Construction walls went up around the Plaza Pavilion a few days after the announcement back in August.
