Now more than ever, it’s a good time to subscribe to TouringPlans.com to plan your strategy to avoid the crowds!

Below are the predicted resort-wide crowd numbers for select days generated by the TouringPlans professional statisticians as measured for the upcoming week. For the access to the full year and per-park crowd level predictions, visit our Crowd Calendar.

Fall has officially fallen on the Disneyland Resort, Halloween Time kicked off this past weekend and the crowds have begun to show up.  Of course most of the guests in the park this past weekend were Annual Passholders looking to visit the special attractions such as Haunted Mansion Holiday and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy; this was reflective in the wait times of both attractions.  Haunted Mansion Holiday saw a FastPass return line stretch back to Critter Country and Ghost Galaxy topped at 95 minutes last night (Saturday). Personally, I’m expecting this to taper off over the rest of September. But as the big marketing push that we are already getting here in Southern California begins to take hold, the crowds should return through October.  If you’re an Annual Passholder looking to just see the decorations and take a spin on a few attractions, the best days to go will be the weekdays and the days that Disneyland closes early for Mickey’s Halloween Parties.  You can get the dates here.

Haunted Mansion Holiday

The Haunted Mansion Holiday opened this past weekend to a large crowd.

Haunted Mansion Holiday

Despite the size of the crowd and the length of the line, the omnimover attraction can move the line quickly.  45 minute wait at 4pm is not too bad, although this was also when a large concentration of guests were on Main Street watching Mickey’s Soundsational Parade.

Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy

Ghost Galaxy Sign
Ghost Galaxy Sign

Using music and special projections, Disney has created an immersive environment that is actually a bit frightening to kids…hence the warning sign.
Here is Disney’s actual description and story for Ghost Galaxy:
The journey begins as a typical launch into deep space. However, as the vehicles climb towards the stars, the voyage suddenly goes awry, hurling the voyagers into an uncharted section of the universe. A galaxy where haunted star clusters, supernovas and other cosmic phenomenon threaten the travelers at every turn. The adventure is one close call after another, until, finally, the craft plummets into a wormhole, returning safely home . . .or does it???
[yframe url=’http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0aSuCASDOdI?rel=0′]
At night, the exterior of Space Mountain comes alive as music and projections create the look and illusion that something has gone very wrong on this side of Tomorrowland.

It’s impressive to watch, and some guests even pull up chairs to take it all in.

Blue Sky Cellar Updates Incoming!

Disney California Adventure is in the final stages of it’s billion dollar, multi-year makeover and expansion.  The Blue Sky Cellar is a building located inside the park dedicated to showcasing the future changes that are in store for California Adventure.  Models of buildings and attractions as well as videos, artwork and pictures line the inside of the Blue Sky Cellar.  The current display showcases The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, which opened at California Adventure this past June.

The large gate near the temporary exit was being used for guests that were not planning on heading over to Disneyland.  This gate exits directly across from the Mickey & Friend’s Tram stop and is outside of the security tents.

What’s interesting about this exit is there are no turnstiles.  I would imagine that Disney knows roughly how many guests are in each park based upon the numbers generated by the entrance and exit turnstiles.  Each side of this gate is only lined with Cast Members armed with hand stamps.  But, there may be more than meets the eye here as well.

Although the exact date for the closure of Carnation Plaza Gardens is unknown, the OC Register reported last week that it should occur this month.  Also an interesting note, the band in the pictures, Tim Gill & the All-Stars are booked to preform on this stage once a month though December.

By the way…Tim Gill & the All-Stars are amazing.  Check out their music on Amazon

Little League Champs To Be Honored at Disneyland

The Huntington Beach, Ocean View Little League Team won the World Series last month in a victory over Japan. Since they returned to Orange County, they have met the Governor, been on ESPN and been paraded down Huntington Beach’s Main Street. But later this month they are expected to be paraded down a more famous Main Street!

I hope you enjoyed this week’s update.  I will have more Halloween for you next week.

As far as the live streams go, it seems to have been popular and I definitely plan to do it again.  Even though I had quite a few technical problems and sprung it on you via Twitter and Facebook, over 600 of you got to see Remember…Dreams Come True and the Swing Dancing live!

Next time it will be planned!

A lot of work goes into these photo reports and the entire blog for that matter, there is NO way I could do it without your continued support!
