California Adventure Entrance

This week the new entrance reached new heights as some of the metal framing for the new “aircraft inspired fins” were lifted into place.

Shortly after these pictures were taken the exposed frame was covered.

In the very back right corner of this photograph you can see a wooden “wall”, could this be the start of Buena Vista Street?

Disney Junior, Live on Stage

The former Playhouse Disney building, now the Disney Theater is out from under tarps and scaffolding.

The new show, Disney Junior Live on Stage, is set to open this Friday, March 25th

Can you imagine what this will look like at night?  We’ll find out next week!

California Adventure, Disney Junior 2

The waiting area, that frequently over flowed to the rear of the building, is exactly the same as before.

California Adventure, Disney Junior 3

As you can see in the pictures below, the new look of the building is a vast improvement from the cartoonish Playhouse Disney version.

I’ve heard a few comments regarding the “radio tower” on top of the building.  It was not uncommon for these towers to be in Hollywood, as some still remain.

The El Capitan still has one, as depicted in the mural on Hollywood Blvd at DCA.

In the former Bountiful Valley Farms area the pit presumably for Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree can be seen.

Cars 2 Meet & Greet

And your eyes don’t deceive you, there is something new and red down there!

California Adventure, Cars Land Construction 4

A promotion for the upcoming Cars 2 movie has appeared near what will eventually be Route 66 into Cars Land.

The “meet & greet” for Mater and Lightning McQueen is actually inset into the construction wall.

California Adventure, Cars Land Construction 5

It is actually very nice and elaborate, especially when compared to the inset they have been using over at Condor Flats.

It appears that Lightning and Mater have received new “flames” and the number 95, perhaps a tie into the new movie.

And of course there is a merchandise cart just across the way for all of your spending pleasure.

The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Under Sea Adventure

As June 3rd grows closer, we are getting more excited!

Trees have ‘popped’ up along the eastern side.

I can’t wait to see what the area and landscaping at ground level looks like!

The rotunda, fashioned after the Exploratorium Palace of Fine Arts San Francisco, is receiving some attention

The old color scheme was identical to the rotunda in San Francisco, but it doesn’t fit well with the new Mermaid building.  Perhaps this is a test section.

Duffy the Disney Bear now comes in a Easter edition.

California Adventure, Easter Duffy 1

They sell for $30 each, and as our friends over at MousePlanet pointed out on Twitter a few days ago they are limited to 25 per person…

…So I guess your only allowed to spend $750 at a time on Duffy, geeze.

California Adventure, Easter Duffy 2

I’m not too sure if this has been pointed out yet, but Disney is taking the Build-A-Bear approach with Duffy.

Select Disney Characters and various other outfits are for sale as well.

The Paradise Garden Grill is receiving some attention and some mature landscaping is now visible in the area.

Paradise Park, where the Maliboomer once rose from the ground, has not changed much in the past few months, the area remains blocked off to guests.

Main Street, USA

The Emporium and Crystal Arcade are behind some very elaborate tarps while they receive some TLC.

The tarps are images of the actual buildings and are quite realistic.

Disneyland, Emporium 1

On Saturday night around 7pm, the tarps were removed in view of the guests.  This is a rare thing for Disney to do, but it was presumably due to the winter storm that came in later that evening.

We also got word that the tarps around Star Tours were taken down as well.

Better to remove them in front of guests then have them fall on one.

Last weekend, after the previous Disneyland update was already shot, the street traffic began to show up again on Main Street

It’s amazing how much the area comes to life with these vehicles moving guests up and down Main Street.

New Pirates Movie 3D Sneak Peak at Disneyland

Readers of Disneyland News Live will remember a story this past week that Disneyland will be showing an exclusive and extended 3D trailer for this Summer’s release of Pirates of the Caribbean, On Stranger Tides.

The top of the screen as well as ‘rigging’ can be seen in the Festival Arena area.

We learned a few weeks ago that Sanuk was going to be taking up the space previously filled by Basin

This week a very large mat was seen covering the ‘Basin’ tile logo that is set into the concrete.

Well that should do it for this week.
