With the all the construction going on at the California Adventure entrance and with the possibility that the esplanade may be “plussed”, Disneyland is discontinuing the “Walk of Magical Memories” program. The program started in 2000 with the expansion of the resort to include Disney’s California Adventure, Downtown Disney and the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. Guests could purchase sponsorship stones and have them engraved with a date, hometown and the sponsors names. A symbol could be selected for a special occasion, including gold medallions for Disneyland’s 50th anniversary in 2005. Disney has stated that the current stones will remain in place and there are no immediate plans to remove them. If for any reason this changes and Disneyland decides to remove them all together, then Disney will refund the “sponsorship” fee for the stone in full as long as it has been less than 10 years since purchase.

If you still want to purchase a stone, then you have to move quick. The cut off date is February 28, 2011!
